Format of
a private party
At private parties, parents are often stretched to the limit and it is
our job to make sure we remove as much of the pressure as possible.
Unlike others entertainers who are only with you for an hour, we are
with you for the whole 2 hours of your party. Usually the timetable
would run something like this......
The Beginning: Parties never begin on time! There will be a
stream (or maybe that should be trickle!) of guests arriving for the
first 15 or so minutes which means that nothing specific can be done
until everyone is here. For this period of time we perform meet and
greet entertainment. This is a general routine with balloons and a
bit of magic which can expand and contract to fit the time until all the
guests are with us. That means the children can sit down and watch which
gives the party a focus from the very start and parents don t have to
worry about the guests being bored, becoming unsettled or getting up to
mischief.
After this, The Magic Show. A fun show of at least 40 minutes,
with a lot of the magic based around popular characters from the
children's world. You and the children are welcome to select as many as
you like from this list, bearing in mind how long your magic show will
be. Although we can not absolutely guarantee that we will bring all you
request along, we will do our best.

If the children eat after the show, it can be a very good idea to do
some balloon-modelling as they have the party tea. Not only does
this provide some entertainment as they are eating but it also means
that the children generally stay at the table, as they do not want to
miss their turn at getting a balloon. We do complete circuits of the
tea-table and do not ration the balloons so everybody gets one, then two
etc. We also leave you some spare balloons behind already made up, just
in case any pop after we have left the party.
After tea, we can have a period of party games which parents can
organise. However, because the party has been quite structured up until
this points, some parents like to allow the children to let off steam
and have a play-session that the children themselves create with their
balloons and so on. Just to cover this period, our puppet Molly the
Monkey usually makes an appearance and plays with the children which
makes for some great photo opportunities.
Alternatively we can organise THE best party game in the world,
Russian Roulette with Water Pistols. Don t panic!
Only I run the risk of getting wet but it is absolutely the most silly
and fun way of ending a party!
This is just one suggestion as to how your party might be scheduled. It
is not written in stone but we have found over many parties that a
timetable like this seems to work very well in entertaining the children
in a variety of ways that are stimulating and great fun. Obviously every
party is different, so the best thing to do is to chat with the parents
and take it from there. We can offer packages of 2 hours, 1.5 hours.
1.25 hours or just the single hour.
